The petitioner has filed this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, seeking protection against apprehended threats from respondent No. 5, who is his estranged second wife, and respondent Nos. 6 to 12, who are her family members.

Issue notice. Mr. Yudhvir Singh Chauhan, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

Mr. Raunak Satpathay, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner is facing threats to his life, liberty, as well as property from respondent Nos. 5 to 12. He states that the petitioner maintains two residences, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Chandni Mahal and

Police Station New Usman Pur. He alleges that threats have been extended to him at his shop as well, which is within the jurisdiction of Police Station Jama Masjid. He also submits that respondent No. 5 is seeking to appropriate the residential property belonging to the petitioner, where his and respondent No. 5’s children are residing, which is within the jurisdiction of Police Station Usman Nagar. In view of the aforesaid, the petitioner seeks protection at his two residences and his shop, which are within the jurisdiction of Police Station Chandni Mahal, Police New Usman Pur, and Police Station Jama Masjid respectively.

Having regard to the nature of relief sought, Mr. Sanjay Lao, learned Senior Counsel for the State, submits that the mobile numbers of beat constables having jurisdiction over the petitioner’s residences, and his shop, will be provided to the petitioner, so that they can be contacted in the event of any exigency.

As no other relief is sought in the petition, the petition is disposed of in terms of the aforesaid submissions.

It is made clear that this Court has not issued notice to any of the other respondents, and the observations in this order are not intended to make any comment upon the veracity of the allegations against them.

Needless to say, all rights and contentions of the parties in accordance with law are left open.
