By way of the present petition, the petitioners are seeking quashing of FIR No. 379/2024 , registered at Police Station Jagat Puri, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/354A/377/406/506/509/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘IPC’), and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties.

have been identified by their respective counsel and the Investigating Officer concerned.

Brief facts of the case are that petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 got married on 23.10.2023 at Faridabad according to Hindu rites and ceremonies and no child was born out of the said wedlock. Owing to matrimonial differences, the parties started residing separately with effect from 14.01.2024. Thereafter, respondent no. 2 lodged a complaint against the petitioners, pursuant to which the present FIR came to be registered. During the pendency of the proceedings, with the intervention of family members, friends and other respectable persons, the parties amicably resolved their disputes and executed a Settlement Deed/MoU dated 31.07.2024. The marriage between petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 was thereafter dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent dated 22.08.2025, passed by the learned Additional Principal Judge, Family Courts, Faridabad. Subsequently, the parties executed a further Settlement Deed/MoU dated 10.08.2026.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that, in terms of the Settlement Deed dated 10.08.2026, the parties agreed to settle all their disputes for a total sum of Rs.9,00,000/-. He submits that the balance amount of Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only) has been handed over to respondent no. 2 today in Court by way of Demand Draft bearing No. 556786 . It is further submitted that, with the said payment, the terms and conditions of the settlement stand fully complied with and nothing further remains to be paid by either party under the settlement.

compromise vide Settlement Deed dated 10.08.2026, out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. She further states that she has received the entire settled amount and has no objection if the present FIR and all proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. Respondent no. 2 has also placed on record her no-objection to quashing of the present FIR.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences out of their own free will and without any coercion, the marriage between petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 already stands dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent and the entire settlement amount stands paid, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between the parties. It would thus be in the interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question.

Accordingly, FIR No. 379/2024 , registered at Police Station Jagat Puri, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/354A/377/406/506/509/34 of the IPC, along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby quashed. 10. The present petition is disposed of. Pending application(s), if any, also stand disposed of.
