Heard the learned Counsel for the Parties.

This Public Interest Litigation Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Respondents to take appropriate steps for repair of the road at the Transport Centre, Punjabi Bagh.

Learned Counsel representing the Delhi Development Authority, Mr. Shashi Pratap Singh, on instructions, has submitted that so far as recarpeting and repair of the road for 18 metres and 24 metres right of way is concerned, the tender was already awarded and the roads were also handed over to the

successful tenderers in the month of March, 2026 for completing the recarpeting and repair works, however, on account of hindrances being caused because of the heavy parking of the vehicles, the said work has yet not been completed.

On instructions, he has further submitted that the work of recarpeting and repair shall be completed by the end of the month of September, 2026. He has further stated that the storm water drain is also being repaired and the said work will also be completed by the end of the month of September, 2026.

Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of in terms of the statement made by learned Counsel representing the Delhi Development Authority.

We, however, direct that in any case, the repair, recarpeting and drainage work shall be completed within the time as stated before us, which stands recorded in the earlier part of this Order and any delay may amount to contempt of Court.

So far as the removal of encroachment on the road(s) is concerned, the appropriate authority of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is directed to take effective steps for the said purpose as well.

The Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid observations and directions. Pending Application(s), if any, also stand disposed of.
