By way of the present petition, the petitioners are seeking quashing of the FIR bearing no. 817/2020, registered at Police Station Rajouri Garden, Delhi, for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 324/341/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter ‘IPC' ) and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom.

Issue notice. The learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State.

All the petitioners and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court and have been identified by their counsel and Investigating Officer (IO) concerned.

Brief facts of the case are on the complaint of respondent no. 2, the present FIR was registered against the petitioner. The respondent has stated that upon reaching Tagore Garden, where his colleague Gulshan had organised a program on the occasion of his promotion, he, along with a friend, sat with 2–3 other boys and consumed alcohol. After some time, a heated argument took place between the respondent and the petitioner. Thereafter, the respondent decided to return home on his scooter. In the meantime, two of the said boys obstructed the respondent, assaulted him by slapping and punching, and further stabbed him 2–3 times on his hip. Subsequently, those boys fled from the spot.

It is stated that with intervention of the family and friends, the parties have now amicably settled their dispute vide Settlement Deed dated 05.05.2025.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 2 who has been identified by the IO, has categorically stated that he has entered into compromise out of his own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. It is stated that both the parties have amicably settled all their disputes vide Settlement Deed dated 05.05.2025 and has no objection if the FIR is quashed.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question.
