This is a joint petition under Section 29 A (4) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for an extension of the mandate of the learned Arbitral Tribunal which is expiring today.

Learned counsel for both the parties submit that the learned Arbitrator was appointed by virtue of the order of the Hon‟ble Supreme Court on 23.08.2019. The completion of the pleadings happened in 2019. It has

been submitted that earlier also extension was also taken by the parties vide order dated 18.05.2023.

Learned counsel for the parties submits that the case is at the stage of cross-examination of respondents evidence. Both the learned counsel submits that the matter is voluminous in nature and there are many miscellaneous applications that are also pending disposal. The request has been made for an extension of the mandate till December, 2025.

The intention of the legislature is the expedition of the tribunal proceedings. However, in view of the request, the mandate is extended till 30^th December 2024.

In view of the above, the present petition stands disposed of.
