Officer only on the ground that the petitioners had left the school.

2.The Full Bench of this Court in the case of Janabai
d/o. Himmatrao Thakur Vs. State of Maharashtra and Ors.
reported in 2019 (6) Mh.L.J. 769 was considering clause 26.4 of
Secondary School Code wherein proviso existed that after the
student has left the school, the school record cannot be corrected.
The Full Bench of this Court held that obvious mistake in the
school record can be corrected even after the student has left the
school.

3.Applying the same analogy here, the competent
authority may reconsider the applications filed by the petitioners
for correction of caste in the school record on it’s own merits, in
accordance with law and may not reject it only on the ground that
the applications are made after the petitioners had left the school.
However, the other merits shall be considered by the competent
authority while dealing with the applications of the petitioners.

4.Writ petitions are accordingly disposed of. No costs.
