1 An affidavit in reply has been presented by the Block Development Officer, (BDO) Nagar Panchayat Samiti, Ahmednagar, wherein, it has been disclosed that, an enquiry was directed to be conducted through the Extension Officer of the Panchayat Samiti under the instruction of the BDO. Accordingly, the Extension Officer of the Panchayat Samiti conducted enquiry and tendered a report to the BDO on 7.4.2016. The enquiry is on the following issues:

2 It has been reported that certain irregularities are disclosed and prima facie responsibility is fixed on certain employees and the office bearers of the village panchayat. It is further informed that, on the basis of enquiry report, notices have been issued to the erring officers and their explanation has been called. On receipt of the explanation, further action would be taken, as permissible in law, by the BDO. It is also assured that, the BDO will forward papers for necessary compliance and for taking appropriate action in the matter, together with report and the comments of the BDO to the Chief Executive Officer. It is further informed by the learned counsel appearing for the Zilha Parishad that, the C.E.O. will take appropriate steps in consonance with the report and the material placed before him expeditiously. It is directed that further process of finalization of the enquiry proceedings, forwarding papers to the C.E.O. and the necessary action by the C.E.O. or the BDO as the case may be, shall be taken, as expeditiously as possible and preferably within a period of six months from today.

3 In view of above directions, the grievances raised by the petitioner in the instant Public Interest Litigation stand redressed substantially. Accordingly, the PIL stands disposed of.
