The Commissioner for State Excise, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai passed an order on 16/12/2010 in favour of the petitioner and directed that his date of deemed promotion shall be treated as 21/4/1988 and consequently he has been given the benefit of arrears in salary from 21/4/1988 to 30/10/2000.
By this petition, the petitioner prays for 18% interest on the

arrears of salary so paid. The petitioner’s remedy, at the first instance, is before the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal.
Hence, the petition is disposed with liberty to approach the MAT, if so desired.
