This Petition takes exception to the Order dated 26.08.2009 passed by the Inspector General of Prisons, by which order the application for furlough filed by the Petitioner came to be rejected. The Petitioner is convicted of the offences punishable under Sections 302, 365, 120B and 201 of I.P.C. The Petitioner is serving the sentence in the Central Jail, Aguada Goa. The Petitioner filed an application for furlough on the ground that the Petitioner wants to maintain continuity with his family and society to develop constructive hope and active interest in life. The said reason did not find favour with the authorities for the reasons stated in the order.
of the Petitioner is dated 15.6.2007. One of the reasons mentioned in the order is that the Petitioner has been convicted for the murder of one Dr. Verekar having a social background and, therefore, the release of the Petitioner on furlough would send a wrong signal to the society.
