By this petition, the petitioner who is undergoing sentence of life imprisonment at Central Prison, Amravati seeks appointment as Watchman. The reply filed on behalf of the respondents discloses that for jail offence punishment was imposed on him on 13.2.2009. According to the respondent, the petitioner cannot be appointed as Overseer or Watchman for a period of 2 years from the date of imposition of punishment in terms of Maharashtra Prison Rules, 1979. In addition to above, the respondent has stated that the petitioner has been found medically unfit and as such he cannot be appointed. It has been further stated that in case the petitioner is found fit in terms of the relevant Rules, the respondent shall consider the case of the

petitioner for being appointed as Watchman. In view of above, the petition stands disposed
of.
The fees of Ms. Sangeeta Gaikee, Advocate appointed to appear on behalf of the petitioner, are quantified at Rs.750/-.
