During the course of the hearing, the learned counsel for the petitioner has confined his relief to the water supply in the area of Wagholi, near Pune City. According to the petitioner, there is grave shortage of water and the mine workers had to walk around 4 to 5 kilometres every day to get water. The petitioner has approached the respondents to frame a scheme for water supply for the benefit of the mine workers in Wagholi area near Pune.

Pursuant to the show cause notice issued by this Court,

Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply Division, Pune Zilla Parishad, Pune, has filed affidavit on 26^th September, 2005, on behalf of respondent No.5, in which it is mentioned that pursuant to the direction given by the District Collector, Pune, to submit the estimate for the project of water supply scheme to the mine workers, he prepared the estimate for an amount of Rs.31.70 lakhs and submitted the same to the Collector. In the affidavit it is further clarified that the Gram Panchayat,Wagholi, has completed 25 per cent of the water supply work for the welfare of the mine workers spread over in four different vastis by utilising their funds. Therefore, the original estimate of Rs.31.70 lakhs is reduced to Rs. 24.91 lakhs.

This project of supplying water supply to the mine workers is extremely urgent and must be completed on a priority basis.

4. We have heard the learned counsel for the parties.

In the facts and circumstances of the case, we direct the respondents to complete the project as expeditiously as possible, and, in any event, within four months from today. No further directions are necessary. This petition is accordingly disposed of. In case the project

is not completed within four months from today, the petitioner would be

at liberty to revive this petition for appropriate directions.
