ORDER:

This Criminal Petition, under Sections 480 and 483 of the BNSS, has been filed by the petitioner herein/Accused No.8, seeking regular bail, in Crime No. 69 of 2025, on the file of Rampachodavaram Police Station, registered for the offences punishable under Sections 8(C) read with 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS, Act and Section 111(2)(b) of BNS.

Brief facts of the case are that, on 27.06.2025, at 04:00 PM at Pandirimamidi Center on Tar Road (Rampachodavaram-Gokavaram road), the Sub-Inspector of Police, Rampachodavaram Police Station along with staff, mediators while conducting raid, found one Bolero Pickup van bearing registration No.OD 02 AV 6602, one motorcycle NS200 bearing registration No. AP 39G 0027 and on seeing the police the drivers of the said vehicles absconded into forest hill area leaving their vehicles, on verification of the said vehicles they found 1142 Kgs of Ganja in the vehicles. The Sub-Inspector of Police, Rampachodavaram, seized the said contraband and vehicles under cover of mediators’ report.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Assistant Public Prosecutor representing the respondent/State. Perused the material on record.

Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the

petitioner/Accused No.8 was arrested on 25.07.2025 and since then, he has been in judicial custody.

Learned Assistant Public Prosecutor submits that the case is still under investigation and some more witnesses are to be examined and the statutory period is not over. The quantity of contraband involved in present crime is 1142 Kgs of Ganja, which is a commercial quantity.

In view of the aforesaid facts and circumstances of the case, petitioner does not deserve for grant of bail at this stage. Accordingly, the Criminal Petition is dismissed.

As a sequel thereto, the miscellaneous applications, if any, pending in this Criminal Petition shall stand closed.
