Contempt Case No. 140/2017, High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati (Special Original Jurisdiction), decided 06.02.2026 by Maheswara Rao Kuncheam J: Five APSRTC employees of Vinukonda Bus Depot, Guntur District, filed a contempt petition under Sections 10 to 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act 1971 alleging willful disobedience of the interim orders dated 05.01.2017 in W.P.No.489 of 2017 and seeking punishment of the Managing Director, Regional Manager and Depot Manager of the Corporation. The underlying writ petition was disposed of on 10.11.2017; the Corporation's W.A.No.306 of 2018 against the writ orders was dismissed. There was no representation for the petitioners on 17.02.2017 or on the date of hearing. The Court made the following ORDER:

On 17.02.2017 as well as today, there is no representation for the petitioner.

The contempt case has been preferred against the willful disobedience of the interim orders passed by this Court dated 05.01.2017 in W.P.No.489 of 2017.

Thereafter, the said writ petition is disposed of by an order dated 10.11.2017. Challenging the orders passed in the Writ Petition, W.A.No.306 of 2018 has been preferred by the respondent – Corporation and the same was dismissed.

Learned Standing Counsel for respondent – Corporation submits that by virtue of the orders in W.A.No.306 of 2018, the order of this Court has been complied with. To substantiate his assertion, he placed the proceedings dated 07.07.2018 issued by the Regional Manager, Guntur wherein the relevant portion reads as under:

“ We note that on 18.04.2018 when these appeals were came before this Court for hearing, the learned Advocate General, State of AP stated that the issue of payment of salaries to the respondents-employees will be considered on the next date of hearing. Further undertakes to use his good offices to see that the issue as payment of salaries is resolved amicably. Admittedly till date the order dt. 18.04.2018 of this Court has not been complied with. At joint request, re-notify on 11.07.2018.
