Heard learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and Sri S.B.Pandey, learned Senior Counsel/Deputy Solicitor General of India assisted by Sri Varun Pandey, learned counsel for respondents no.1 and 2.

This is a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, wherein the writ petitioner has sought for the following substantial reliefs:-

"(i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus thereby commanding and directing the opposite parties specially opposite party no.2 i.e. Regional Passport Officer, Government of India, Lucknow to renew the passport of petitioner which has already been issued by Passport Authority in favour of petitioner on 09.05.2013, in the interest of justice.

(ii) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Mandamus thereby commanding and directing to opposite party no.2 to take final decision on the online application bearing file No.LK3075216450425 dated 16.06.2025 of the petitioner within time, in the interest of justice."

In our view, since the criminal case against the petitioner has now been closed, the petitioner can submit these documents before the Regional Passport Officer, Lucknow and upon such submission, the Regional Passport Officer, Lucknow is directed to renew the passport

of the petitioner in accordance with law, if there is no other impediment in law. The entire exercise should be completed within a period of four weeks from date of submission of aforesaid documents.

With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of.
