Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel.

The writ petition is filed with the following prayer:

"a. issue writ, order or direction in the nature of certiorari to quash the order dated 12.08.2024 (Annexure No.1) passed by respondent no. 2.

b. issue writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondent no. 2- licensing authority not to compel the petitioner to deposit his weapon in pursuance of aforesaid order dated 12.08.2024 passed by respondent no. 2"

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he may be permitted to file a reply to the show-cause notice issued in the impugned order and the authorities concerned may be directed to decide the inquiry pending with regard to cancellation of Arms License.

Learned Standing Counsel has no objection with regard to above submission.

Learned counsel for the petitioner is permitted to file his response to the showcause notice within a period of 15 days from today. The licensing authority i.e. respondent no. 2 is hereby directed to decide the inquiry pending in respect of cancellation of arms license within a period of two months thereafter.

With the aforesaid observation/direction, the writ petition is disposed of.
