Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for the State-respondents.

This writ petition has been filed with the following prayer:-

"A. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest of 18% per annum for period of 17.11.2021 to 11.09.2023 for delay payment of General Provident Fund amount of Rs.56,55,580.27/- which has been disbursed in State Bank Account No.304826604192 on 11.09.2023."

It is contended by learned counsel for the petitioner that earlier the petitioner had approached this Court for the payment of his GPF which has been paid, but the interest on the delayed payment has not been paid till date, though an application has been filed, ventilating his grievance, before respondent no.4.

As no useful purpose would be served in keeping the matter pending, with the consent of the parties, the matter is being disposed of at this stage without calling for counter affidavit, with a direction upon respondent no.4- Regional Higher Education Officer, Gorakhpur to decide the pending application moved by the petitioner, if there is no legal impediment and after hearing all the concerned parties, strictly in accordance with law by reasoned and speaking order, expeditiously, preferably within a period of two months from the date of production of certified copy of this order.

With the aforesaid direction, present writ petition stands disposed of.

It is made clear that this Court has not adjudicated the case on merit.
