Heard Sri Zafeer Ahmad, learned Counsel for the petitioner, learned Standing Counsel for the State respondents and perused the record.

The instant writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India has been filed for direction to the respondent no.2, District Magistrate, Rampur to decide the application of the petitioner pending since 20.01.2019 for issuance of Fire Arms License of Rifle (N.P. Bore Revolver/Pistol) within stipulated period.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is an agriculturist and also engaged in the business of real-estate and claims that he moves around with huge amount of cash, therefore, for safety and security the arms license is required. On perusal of the writ petition no satisfactory reason was given as to why he needs to carry huge amount of cash for the business.

He further submits that a direction may be issued to the authorities concerned to take decision on the application of the petitioner, as soon as possible.

No useful purpose would be served by keeping this writ petition pending in view of the order, which is being passed.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, without going into its merit and with the consent of the parties, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent no.2, District Magistrate, Rampur to reconsider the application dated 20.01.2019 pending before it strictly in accordance with law and purely on merits, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of production of a certified copy of this order.
