Petitioner has moved an application for grant of firearm licence, which has remained pending since 15.7.2019. Reliance is placed upon Rule 13 of the Arms Rules, 2016, according to which such application ought to be disposed of within 60 days from the date of receipt of police report. Submission is that action of respondents in keeping the application pending for almost 10 months is wholly arbitrary.
Learned Standing Counsel states that the second respondent shall pass necessary orders upon the petitioner's application.
In the facts and circumstances, noticed above, this writ petition stands disposed of with a direction upon respondent no.2 to pass necessary orders upon petitioner's pending application for grant of firearm licence, in accordance with law, within a period of two months from the date of presentation of certified copy of this order.
