Heard Shri Salman Khurshid, learned Senior Counsel for the petitioners through V.C, facility and Sri Deepak Mishra, the learned A.G.A.
The petitioners are husband and wife, who allege serious threat apprehensions to their life and property from certain anti-social elements, in respect of which they have made several representations to the competent authorities including NHRC, New Delhi, but despite issuance of notice by the NHRC on 17.7.2020 directing the competent authority to take action within 8 weeks, no action whatsoever has been taken by the authority concerned.
The learned A.G.A, submits that no useful purpose would be served by keeping this petition pending, it be disposed of by giving appropriate direction to the competent authorities to take a decision within stipulated period.
We concur with the fair stand taken by the learned A.G.A.
This writ petition is disposed of with the direction that in the event, the petitioners file a comprehensive representation, in respect of their grievance along with a copy of this order within 6 weeks from today, the competent authority shall consider and dispose of the same, in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within 6 weeks under intimation to the petitioners, by registered post.
