The petitioners have approached this Court seeking the following relief: "i. Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding respondent nos. 1, 2 and 3 to provide protection to the petitioners, whose life and personal liberty are apprehended to be threatened by respondent nos. 4 to 7 and other relatives of petitioner no. 1." 3. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner no. 1 has attained the age of 18 years, while petitioner no. 2 has attained the age of 25 years, and both are legally competent to marry. It is submitted that they solemnised their marriage on 05.07.2026, and in support thereof, a copy of the marriage certificate/proof of marriage has been annexed as Annexure No. 2 to the writ petition. Learned counsel further submits that the petitioners undertake to apply for registration of their marriage under the Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand within ten days. It is further contended that the petitioners apprehend a threat to their life and personal liberty at the hands of respondent nos. 4 to 7, who include the father and uncles of petitioner no. 1. the petitioners.

The petitioners have approached this Court
seeking the following relief:

protection to the petitioners, whose life and
personal liberty are apprehended to be
threatened by respondent nos. 4 to 7 and

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits
that petitioner no. 1 has attained the age of 18
years, while petitioner no. 2 has attained the age
of 25 years, and both are legally competent to

Having heard learned counsel for the
parties and uponconsiderationofthematerial

available on record, this Court, in the light of the law laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in
Lata Singh v. State of U.P. and Another, is of the prima facie opinion that the petitioners have made out a case for protection of their life and personal liberty guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.
5. Accordingly, the Station House Officer,
Police Station Manglaur, District Haridwar, is directed to assess the threat perception, if any, to the life and personal liberty of the petitioners. In the event any genuine threat is found to exist, adequate protection shall be provided to the petitioners strictly in accordance with law. The Station House Officer shall also summon respondent nos. 4 to 7, as well as any other person found to be interfering with or threatening the petitioners, and counsel them to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
