ORDER: (Per Hon’ble Sri Justice V. Ramasubramanian)
The petitioner, who appeared for APEAMCET-2016 and secured a rank of 32303, has come up with the above writ petition questioning the action of the 4th respondent university in not reserving any seat under the quota reserved for the persons excelling in sports and games, as per the various Government Orders in force.
Heard Mr. P. Gangirami Reddy, learned counsel for the petitioner. Mr. Taddi Nageswara Rao, learned counsel takes notice for the 3rd respondent-University, Ms. P. Sarada, learned counsel takes notice for the 4th respondent and Mr. M.V.S. Prasad, learned counsel takes notice for the 5th respondent.
Even according to the petitioner, the percentage of reservation for the persons excelling in sports and games is 0.50%. The total number of seats available under the 85% quota for locals in the 4th respondent-university is only 127. Therefore, the number of seats that could be reserved under the category comes to less than one.
In case of this nature, it is not possible to round off the fraction into one. Actually there are 28 types of sports, which are included under this category.
Insofar as the 3rd respondent is concerned the total number of seats available is 1050. Therefore, they have applied the reservation of 0.50% and allotted five seats under the quota for sports and

games. It means even they have not rounded off the fraction to the next highest number.
Therefore, the grievance of the petitioner cannot be
redressed. Hence the writ petition is dismissed.
As a sequel, pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall
stand closed.
