The marriage of P.W.1 was performed with the 1st respondentA1 on 23.5.1994 at Ramalayam in Nandyal Town and at the time of marriage, P.W.2 gave Rs.3,00,000/- cash, 20 tulas of gold and Rs.1,00,000/- towards purchase of house hold articles and motor cycle as dowry to the accused. A1 used to work as a leather technician in Ranipet, Tamilnadu. After marriage, they lived happily for about one year and P.W.1 gave birth to a male child. Thereafter, all the accused started harassing her for additional dowry. When P.W.2 expressed her inability to meet the demand of the accused, all the accused drove P.W.1 out of the house and then, P.W.1 went to P.W.2 and the accused used to threaten P.W.1 through phone. On 18.1.2004 P.W.1 lodged Ex.P1-report, basing on which, a case was registered and investigated into. After completion of the investigation, charge sheet was filed before the Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Nandyal. The learned Magistrate, after following due procedure, framed charge under Section 498-A IPC and Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, against the accused, read over and explained to them in Telugu, for which they pleaded not guilty and claimed to be tried.
