The petitioners 1 to 7/A1 to A7 are accused of offences punishable under Sections 498-A, 406, 506/34 IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961. A1 is husband of the second respondent-de facto complainant. A2, A3 are parents, A4, A5 are brothers and A7 is sister of A1. A6 is wife of A4. A1’s father is brother of the second respondent’s mother. It is contended by the petitioners’ counsel that the second respondent is elder to A1 and that she was married to another person previously and that without obtaining divorce from her first husband, by misrepresentation and by the request of elders, marriage of A1 with the second respondent was performed.
