Norat Mal Khatik, S/O Late Maduram Vs the Union of India

By way of filing of this writ petition, the petitioner is seeking direction against the respondents to promote him from the post of Sub-Inspector (GD) to Inspector (GD).

At the outset, counsel for the respondents apprised this Court that notionally the petitioner was promoted to the post of Inspector (GD) on 11.12.2017 and thereafter, regular promotion was granted to the petitioner in the year 2020 for the said post. Hence under these circumstances, no further cause of action survives with the petitioner to continue this petition and by efflux of time this petition has become infructuous.
