Heard Mr.Vijay Jain, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners.

It is contended in the instant petition registered as "Public Interest Litigation", that the land involved is one reserved for the "Johar Paitan" to facilitate rain water to be eventually used by the villagers for drinking purposes and also for their cattle.

It is alleged that some villagers have encroached upon the said land & constructed their houses thereon and that the jurisdictional Gram Panchayat has also issued illegal patta, purportedly to regularize their encroachments. The petitioners have contended that they had, meanwhile, submitted representations dt.29.10.2012 and 7.11.2012 ventilating their grievances about the aforementioned encroachments before the District Collector, Sri Ganganagar but no remedial action has been taken.

Upon hearing the learned counsel for the petitioners and on a consideration of the averments made in the representations, referred-to hereinabove, we deem it appropriate for the present to dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the District Collector, Sri Ganganagar to consider and

dispose of the representations in accordance with law after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioners and others, as considered fit and appropriate within a time frame of six weeks from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order.

Ordered accordingly.

In the above view of the matter, the writ petition as well as stay petitions stand disposed-of.
