Prayer in the present writ p etition is for issuance of an appropri a te writ, order or direction, parti c ularly a writ in the nature of mandam u s, directing the respondents to t ake immediate and effective measures for controlling the continuing weevil (Susri) infestation in the food - grain stock stored in the PEG godowns at Village Lalina, Patiala; t o ensure proper preservation, maintenance and periodic fumigati o n of the said stock; to insp e ct and ascertain the actual conditio n of the godowns and the food-g r ain stock stored therein; and to take a p propriate action in accordanc e with law in the event any lapse or n egligence is found.
