The petition has been filed inter alia seeking a writ of mandamus directing respondent no.3 - Punjab National Bank to de-freeze/reactivate the petitioner’s bank account bearing no.51632282000331, with its branch at Chopra Tower, Near LIC Building, Ambala Highway, Derabassi, SAS Nagar, Punjab, which has been frozen without any notice or intimation.

Learned counsel for the Bank, on instructions, submits that the petitioner’s bank account was frozen due to a disputed transaction amounting `5,789. However, it can be made operational by marking a lien on the said amount.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has no objection to this conditional running of the account.

The petition is, accordingly, disposed of with a direction to the respondent-Bank to de-freeze the aforementioned bank account within three days of receiving a certified copy of the order by marking a lien on the disputed amount of ₹5,789, and share the documents which led to freezing of the account with the petitioner within two weeks, to enable him to take recourse to appropriate remedies against it, in accordance with law.
