Per status report of Sh. Maninder Singh, IPS, SSP, Amritsar (Rural), inquiry by the Incharge, Economic Offence Wing found the matter to relate to monetary transactions and to be sub-judice; parties were recommended to approach the Court and the complaint was consigned to the records. On the application, learned JMIC, Amritsar called for status report from SHO concerned. The matter was adjourned a number of times. When the SHO concerned failed to file status report, this petition was filed seeking directions to the respondents to conclude investigation in the complaint.

As per status report filed by way of affidavit of Sh. Maninder Singh, IPS, SSP, Amritsar (Rural), inquiry in the matter was conducted by Incharge, Economic Offence Wing, the matter was found to be related to monetary transactions. The case was also sub-judice, thus the parties were recommended to approach the Court for redressal of their grievance. The report was approved by the then SSP, Amritsar (Rural) and the complaint was consigned to the records.

Since, the police has already concluded the inquiry and consigned the complaint, learned trial Court was required to proceed further in the application under Section 156(3) Cr.P.C., in accordance with law. However, it appears from order dated 21.01.2026 placed on record by learned counsel for the petitioner, that learned JMIC has called for a fresh status report in the matter which was not necessitated.

Accordingly, since the police has already filed the complaint of petitioner, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to learned JMIC, Amritsar to determine the application under Section 156(3) Cr.P.C. in accordance with law, within a period of 15 days from next date of hearing in the case.
