Instant petition has been filed for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari for quashing award dated 02.01.2025, Annexure P-1, passed by the PLA (PUS), Patiala.

Mr. Vaneet Thakur, Advocate, has put in appearance on behalf of respondent No.2 and has filed Power of Attorney along with affidavit dated 08.09.2025, which are taken on record. Relevant extract of the affidavit is reproduced hereunder:-

4. That the case pertains to policy bearing No.1H343435402 dated 16.01.2019 issued by the SBI Life Insurance Company in the name of the deponent. The payment of the policy amount to the tune of Rs.2,12,463.09/- and Rs.3,57,200.95/- has been remitted to the deponent's account No.55017360423 on 08.04.2025 and 21.04.2025.

5. That with the remittance of the policy amount, the grievance of the deponent has been addressed and nothing is due against the said policy either against

the State Bank of India or against SBI Life Insurance Company. Given above, the deponent had already withdrawn the execution application being fully satisfied. The deponent will not claim the awarded compensation amount, interest and litigation cost awarded by the Permanent Lok Adalat, Patiala in its Award dated 02.01.2025. No claim whatsoever is pending/due against the State Bank of India or the SBI Life Insurance Company.

6. That in view thereof, the award is fully satisfied to the deponent’s satisfaction and nothing is due either against State Bank of India or the SBI Life Insurance Company against the aforesaid policy.”

As respondent No.2 has given up his claim for compensation, interest and litigation costs, the impugned award is accordingly, modified. Writ petition is disposed of.
