Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner contends that the petitioner Gain Masih along with his sons and grandsons and their respective families have been residing at village Dhira Jattan, Pathankot. The petitioner's grandson, namely Karan Kumar is having an affair with a girl namely Muskan daughter of Avinash Kumar. On 07.04.2025, Karan Kumar left the residence and has not been in touch with the family members as his phone is also switched off. On 09.04.2025, the respondents No.5 to 9 i.e. the family members of Muskan came to the house of the petitioner while searching

their girl to accompany him for the matrimonial alliance and in these circumstances, they had brought the police officials from Police Station B Division, Pathankot with them. The aforesaid family members of the girl in question have been threatening and intimidating the petitioner as well as his family members to hand over the custody of the girl as otherwise they would book the entire family in a case of kidnapping and rape of the minor girl. The petitioner has approached the concerned SHO to protect his life and liberty. The petitioner has given a representation to the Senior Superintendent of Police, District Pathankot but no action has been taken by the respondent-authorities.

Notice of motion restricted to respondents No.1 to 4 only. Pursuant to supply of advance copy, Mr. Brijesh Kumar, AAG, Punjab appears and accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 4.

Learned State counsel has no objection if appropriate direction for providing requisite protection to the petitioner is given.

As such, the petition is disposed of with the directions to respondent No.3-Station House Officer, Police Station Division No.2, Pathankot, to look into the grievances of the petitioner as set out in the petition and also expressed in the representation (Annexure P-1) and take appropriate action for protection of life and liberty of the petitioner as may be warranted by the circumstances.
