“I a m resident of village Uriana Kalan a nd am an agriculturist. We are th r ee broth e rs and own 27 killas of land. T h e eldest of all is Richpal Singh a nd youn g er to him is Lakhvinder Singh a n d I am the youngest. All of us a re marri e d. My brother Lakhvinder Sin g h was married to daughter of A lla Sing h of village Thal, P.S.Safidon and h as been residing separately from us since the last about 10 years. My fat h er had distributed the land equ a lly amo n gst all three of us. However, Lak h vinder Singh used to insist upon m y fathe r to get his share of land transferr e d in his name, but my father used to tell h i m that after his death, the land w ould be transferred equally amon g st all th e three brothers, which did not go w ell with Lakhvinder Singh and th e re used t o be a dispute between Lakhvind e r Singh and my father. Nazar Sin g h, broth e r-in-law ( sala ) of Lakhvinder S ingh used to come to our vill a ge frequ e ntly and he also used to com p el my father to get the share of Lakh v inder Singh transferred in his n a me. My brother Richpal Singh, in respe c t of land falling to his share, had e ntered into an agreement to sell with Surji t Singh Dhariwal. Today, I along w ith my father-in-law Angrej Sin g h, one o f our relatives Raj Singh and my f ather Karnail Singh was proceed i ng to T e hsil office at Matlaudha for ge t ting the sale deed registered. W e reach e d near Tehsil office at about 12.30 PM. My father Karnail Singh w as goin g a little ahead of us and when he turned from Shop No.62, Gr a in Mark e t Matlaudha, towards the Tehsil office, Matlaudha, Nazar Sin g h, broth e r-in-law ( sala ) of my brother, s u ddenly appeared from the back of stack of wheat bags and ran towards m y father and took out a pistol and s h ot at m y father hitting him on the left sid e of his waist upon which my fat h er fell d o wn. We rushed towards my fath e r to attend to him, but he succum b ed to th e fire-arm injury. Nazar Singh ra n away from the spot towards forest alongwith his pistol. Nazar Singh has m urdered my father by conniving w ith Lakh v inder Singh. Angrej Singh a n d Raj Singh have witnessed t he occu r rence. After leaving my father- i n-law Angrej Singh and Raj Si n gh near t he dead body, when I was procee d ings towards police station you m et me n e ar the gate of grain market.
