Learned counsel for the peti t ioners submits that contempt proceedi n gs be initiated against the respondents for not complying the order dat e d 31.5.2022 (Annexure P-7) p a ssed by a co-ordinate Bench of this C o urt in CWP-13584-2019 titled a s “Ajmer Singh and another vs. State o f Punjab and others”, whereby the petition was disposed of on the basis of statement made by learne d counsel for the State to the effect th a t “….in case the actual benefits are yet to be released to the petitione r s, the same will also be release d within a period of next four weeks…..” .

Learned counsel for the respondent-State refers to para 9, 11 and 1 2 of the reply dated 21.7.2025 filed by way of affidavit of

Guraman p reet Singh, PFS, holding ad d itional charge of Divisional Forest Officer, Patiala on behalf of r e spondent No.1; as well as Annexur e s R-4 and R-5 annexed with th e said reply and submits that the neces s ary compliance has been made by the respondents. Paras 9, 11 and 1 2 of the said reply reads as follo w s :-

9. That the cont e nts of para no. 9 of the petition are admitt e d to the extent that the petitioners have bee n granted the pension vide PPO order no. 11220 3 0688 dated 24.05.2022 and PPO order no. 11220 3 0687 dated 26.05.2022 and the date of start of pe n sion for the petitioner no. 1 is 01.11.2015 and th e date of start of pension for the petitioner no. 2 is wrongly mentioned as 01.01.2017, it is inf a ct 01.02.2017. Rest of the para is wrong and he n ce denied.

11. That the cont e nts of para no. 11 of the petition talk about th e non payment of the arrears of pension of the petit i oners and the gratuity of the petitioner no. 2. Ho wever, it is pertinent to mention here that th e arrears of the petitioners and the gratuity of t h e petitioner no. 2 has been credited to their respective bank accounts on dated 02.05.2023 and 13. 0 1.2025 respectively making the present petition in f ructuous in nature. 12. That the cont e nts of para no. 12 of the petition are a matter of record. It is relevant to mention here that th e answering respondent after receiving the conte m pt cum legal notice dated 09.12.2024 wrote a l e tter to the District Treasury Officer, Patiala vid e letter no. 13680 dated

26.12.2024 and infor m ed them about the same and requested them to d o the needful as early as possible. Copy of the l etter is annexed herewith as Annexure R-1. There a fter, the petitioner filed the present Writ Petition in this Hon'ble Court and after receiving the in t imation about the same, the answering responden t again wrote a letter to the District Treasury Of f icer, Patiala vide letter no. 1919 dated 22.05.20 2 5 and reminder of the same was also send vi d e letter no. 2795 dated 05.06.2025. Copy of b oth the letters are annexed herewith as Annexu r e R-2 & R-3. The District Treasury Officer, P a tiala vide letter no. 6287 dated 23.06.2025 rev e rted back to the answering respondent with the letter of the bank dated 18.06.2025 along w ith account statement of petitioner no. 2 whic h shows that all the pending amount of arrears an d gratuity was credited to the account of the petitioner no. 2 on dated 02.05.2023. Copy o f the letter from his banker along with account st a tement of petitioner no. 2 is annexed herewith a s Annexure R-5. Similarly, intimation regarding p etitioner no. 1 was received from his banker on d ated 23.06.2025 is annexed herewith as Annexure R-4.”

Learned counsel for the re s pondents-State submits that since the compliance has been made; t h us, no cause survives in the present p e tition.

Learned counsel for the peti t ioners submits that since the Writ Court order dated 31.5.2022 (Anne x ure P-7), nothing survives in the prese n t contempt petition and the sa m e may be disposed of.
