Present writ petition has been filed for directing respondent No.3 to enter the name of petitioner in the revenue record as lambardar of village Sandhwal, Patti (lower) as petitioner was appointed by the competent authority vide sanad dated 23.07.2003 (Annexure P-1) but in the revenue record, name of Racchpal Singh was wrongly shown as a lambardar instead of petitioner in the revenue record. Further prayer has been made for directing respondent No.3 to provide the list of persons from whom chowkidara tax has to be collected, falls in the patti (lower), so that petitioner collect the chowkidara tax.
Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted before this Court that the petitioner was appointed as lambardar of the village and he has been issued the sanad lambardari as well vide order dated 23.07.2003. He submits that since then the petitioner is performing the

duties of lambardar. He however submits that in the revenue record, the name of petitioner has not been entered as lambardar. Being aggrived, the petitioner has filed number of representations to the respondent authorities but no action has been taken till date on the same. He further submits that for the redressal of his grievance, the petitioner has also served a legal notice dated 06.12.2023 (Annexure P-13) upon the respondents but the same has not been taken into consideration by the said respondents till date.
Notice of motion.
On asking of Court, Mr. Navneet Singh, Sr. DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents-State. He submits that the legal notice dated 06.12.2023 would be decided expeditiously.
After hearing counsel for the parties and perusing the record, respondent No.3 i.e. Naib Tehsildar, Hajipur, Tehsil Mukerian, District Hoshiarpur is directed to decide the legal notice dated 06.12.2023 (Annexure P-13) served by the petitioner expeditiously preferably within a period of 15 days from today in accordance with law.
In view of the above, present petition is disposed of.
