Prayer in this writ petition filed by the petitioner under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of certiorari, for quashing the impugned orders dated 16.05.1997, 16.05.1997, 14/19.07.1997 (Annexures P-7 to P-9) and for quashing the impugned order dated 03.12.1997. Alternatively, a writ of mandamus has been sought for directing respondents No.2 to 4 to consider and promote the petitioner as Estate Officer, Section Officer w.e.f. the date i.e. 16.05.1997, when his juniors were promoted/appointed as Estate Officer/Section Officer, with all consequential benefits.

Ms. Sheeba Khan, Additional Law officer, Punjab Waqf Board, Chandigarh, has produced letter dated 26.07.2024 wherein it has been stated that the petitioner was promoted as Estate Officer on 29.06.2010 and retired and relieved from services of Punjab Waqf Board on 30.11.2015.

Similarly, respondent No.5 – Mohd. Anwar, had expired on 04.03.2001 while he was in service; respondent No.6 – Aas Mohd. has also retired from service as Estate Officer; respondent No.7 – Rashid Mohd. has also retired from service on 31.03.2017 as Estate Officer and thereafter, his services were extended upto 31.03.2020 and he was relieved from services of the Board on 31.03.2020 and with regard to respondent No.8 – Abdul Rashid, it has been stated that during the trifurcation of the erstwhile Punjab Waqf Board, his services were allocated to Himachal Waqf Board and he has retired from service from Himachal Waqf Board.

In this view of the matter, the instant petition has been rendered infructuous and the same is disposed of accordingly.
