The present petition has been filed for the grant of regular bail in case FIR No.470 dated 16.09.2021, registered under Sections 18, 21, 25 of the NDPS Act, at Police Station City Barnala, District Barnala.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that though the present petition has been filed for the grant of regular bail but keeping in view the status of the trial, all the witnesses have already been examined and now the case is fixed for defence evidence, hence, the trial Court be directed to conclude the trial in a time bound manner so that the petitioner does not suffer indefinite incarceration.

Learned State counsel, on instructions from DSP Barnala, concedes the said factum.

Keeping in view the fact that all the witnesses have already been examined and the status of the trial is at the defence evidence, coupled with the fact that the petitioner is behind bars for the last more than three years, the trial Court is directed to conclude the trial within a period of three months from the next date of hearing.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has undertaken to cooperate with the trial Court so as to conclude the trial in the time frame prescribed.

Present petition is disposed of accordingly.
