Petitioners have filed this writ petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, inter alia for issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect their life and liberty from private respondents No. 4 to 8.
On the last date of hearing while issuing notice of motion, learned State counsel was directed to apprise the Court qua the receipt of representation dated 17th February, 2021 (Annexure P-4) stated to have been sent to respondent No.2 - Sr. Superintendent of Police, Moga, and also to find out the existence of alleged threat.
Learned State counsel on instructions has apprised this Court that the representation dated 17th February, 2021 (Annexure P-4) was never received in the office of respondent No.2 - Sr. Superintendent of Police, Moga and a fabricated story has been brought-forth in the petition in question. He has, however, apprised this Court that statements of the petitioners have been recorded by the police official concerned, wherein, the petitioners have stated that there is no threat to their life and liberty.
Faced with this situation, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the instant petition may be disposed of, in the light of the statement made by learned State counsel in Court today.
In the circumstances and in the wake of statement made by learned State counsel, the instant petition stands disposed of.
