Petitioner is serving on the post of Assistant Professor,
Mechanical Engineering Department, Punjabi University, Patiala.
A writ of mandamus is sought to direct the respondent/University to grant to him an additional increment on promotion/placement from Stage-I to Stage-II along with the accrued arrears, as per the UGC Regulations 2010, as the case of the petitioner falls within the four corners of the said regulations and even the said benefits have already been given to similarly situated employees vide order dated 12.06.2020.
Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner and after
perusing the record, but without commenting on merits of the case,

instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent- No.3, to decide representation dated 13.08.2020/14.08.2020 (Annexure P-4) within a period of two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order, by passing a speaking order.
Naturally, the orders passed by the University in Similar matters, including Annexure P-6 would be duly considered before passing such a speaking order.
