The petitioner along with Manjit Singh is being tried for having been found in possession of 200 kgs. of poppy husk. Despite expiry of two years, only three witnesses have been examined; co-accused Manjit Singh was granted the concession of bail on 28.5.2014, the petitioner, on the principle of parity can be granted the same relief.
The petition is allowed and the petitioner is ordered to be released on bail on his furnishing bail bonds/ surety bonds to the satisfaction of the trial court subject to the condition that he will not indulge in the similar activity during pendency of the trial. In case of any such eventuality, bail granted to the petitioner will be liable to be cancelled.
