Petitioner has filed this petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ for issuance of direction to Punjab Government and PSPCL who had launched a scheme of 24 hours power supply to Punjab village on the pattern of urban areas.
On notice, a reply has been filed on behalf of respondent No. 2 stating therein that the scheme to provide regular 03 phase supply at par with Urban Areas to all villages in Punjab was floated in the year 1993. Under the said scheme, village Rajpur Bhaian, Distt. Hoshiarpur had applied through its Gram Panchayat. As provided under the scheme, a new 11 KV line was drawn from 68 KV sub-station, Marniyan Khurd, Hoshiarpur and connected with category No. 1 breaker. For ensuring better supply of electricity to residential area of the village from the feeder line into the tube well

connections. It is clarified that category No. 1 breaker is the most efficient breaker through which electricity connection is also provided to the Industrial Area.
A new sub station of 220 KV has also been established at Rihana Jattan to improve supply of electricity to the villages and to take load of the previous existing sub station. The system of supply is not under the DS/operating system but now the same is under the Grid Maintenance Divn. The electricity provided to the consumers is according to the instructions of P.S.P.C.L. The electricity cuts are according to the schedules and the best schemes of Urban feeders and independent lines.
After going through the reply filed by respondent NO. 2, at this stage, no direction can be given to respondent No. 1 for giving 24 hours power supply.
The writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
