Gurmail Kaur - petitioner No.1 was earlier married to Darshan Singh son of Sardara Singh who unfortunately died on 02.01.2013. Death certificate (Annexure P-3) of Darshan Singh has been placed on record. She (petitioner No.1) has now solemnized her marriage with Rakesh Kumar - petitioner No.2. The petitioners have on their own solemnized their marriage amongst themselves according to Sikh rites at Gurudwara Dashmesh Pita Padshai Dasvi (Registered), Panchkula on 28.05.2014. Certificate (Annexure P-4) and photographs (Annexure P-5) of the marriage have been placed on record. On account of the marriage that the petitioners have solemnized, they apprehend threat to their life and liberty from Mandeep Singh and Jaswinder Singh, who are sons of petitioner

No.1 and Kulwant Singh - respondent No.6, who is father of petitioner No.1. They also apprehend threat to their life and liberty from Ramesh Kumar - respondent No.7, who is father of Rakesh Kumar - petitioner No.2 and Surinder Arora - respondent No.8, who is maternal uncle of petitioner No.2. Therefore, they have filed the present petition.

Petitioner No.1 is stated to be 41 years of age while petitioner No.2 is 26 years of age. The date of birth of petitioner No.1 - Gurmail Kaur, as per Aadhaar Card (Annexure P-1) is 17.09.1973 and the date of birth of petitioner No.2-Rakesh Kumar, as per Election Commission of India, Identity Card (Annexure P-2) on 01.01.2006 is mentioned as 18 years.

On account of the threats held out to the petitioners, they submitted a representation dated 29.05.2014 (Annexure P-6) to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib - respondent No.2. However, despite the said representation, the threat to them persists. Therefore, they have approached this Court.

Both the petitioners are present in Court and are identified by their counsel. It is stated by the petitioners that they have solemnized their marriage with each other of their own free will and desire and without any kind of pressure or undue influence. Besides, they are happy with their marriage.

Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, the criminal miscellaneous petition is disposed of with a direction to
