Jyoti & Anr. Vs Ut of Chandigarh & Ors.

Petitioners seek a direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, to protect their lives and liberty as they claim to have married against the wishes of their parents and apprehend danger to their lives and liberty from the private respondents.

It is stated in the petition that the petitioners entered into the matrimonial tie up on 18.03.2014 and on 21.03.2014, petitioners claim to have made a representation to Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, for providing them protection. It is the grievance of the petitioners that no action has been taken so far on the representation dated 21.03.2014 (Annexure P-5).

In the circumstances, without meaning to make any comment on the correctness of the averments made in the petition, including the validity of the marriage and attainment of age of majority by the petitioners, this petition is disposed of with a direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, to consider and expeditiously dispose of the representation dated 21.03.2014 (Annexure P-5) stated to have been filed by the petitioners before him.
