The petitioner prays for grant of a parole to attend the marriage of his sister said to be fixed on 23/24.02.2013. The petitioner's application for parole has been rejected by the Inspector General of Prisons, UT, Chandigarh – respondent No.2 on the recommendations of the District Magistrate, Patiala, expressing apprehension of breach of peace and danger to the security of the State.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that as marriage of the petitioner's sister is fixed for 23/24.02.2013, he may be allowed to attend the marriage in police escort.

Learned counsel for the respondents do not deny that marriage of the petitioner's sister is fixed for 23/24.02.2013 but plead for apprehension, even without reference of any material with regard to threat to the security of the State.

We have heard learned counsel for the parties and disposed of this petition with direction to Inspector General of Prisons, UT, Chandigarh, to ensure that the petitioner is taken to the venue of the marriage on 24.02.2013 at 10.00 AM, under adequate police escort, allow the petitioner to attend the marriage and is brought back to the Model Jail, Chandigarh by 5.00 PM on 24.02.2013 itself.
