Briefly stated, marriage of petitioner-husband-Harinder Singh was performed with complainant Parveen Kumari on 11.11.2008. 15.00 lacs were spent in the marriage by parents of the complainant. Petitionerhusband is employed in the Army. However, behaviour of petitioners and other family members was not good towards the complainant since the very beginning of the marriage. She was harassed on the plea that she had brought inferior quality of furniture and had not brought car in the dowry. She was turned out of matrimonial home after giving beatings on the plea that she should bring the car, failing which she would be killed. She remained in the house of her parents upto December 2009. Panchayat was convened, in which present petitioners-accused and other family members assured that they will not harass the complainant any more and hence she was again sent to the matrimonial home. At that time, 50,000/- were paid by father of the complainant to the petitioners. However, after few days, harassment again started and the matter was again reported to the Panchayat. On 20.5.2010, a writing was given by petitioner-husband before the Panchayat that he would not harass the complainant and despite that, harassment continued on account of demand of car. Father of complainant pleaded that he had already given `50,000/- for purchasing the motor-cycle and had also given LCD and, however, he was not in a position to give a car. However, harassment continued. There are specific allegations that on 21.3.2011, petitioner-husband had come on leave and on the instigation of his mother, i.e., the present petitioner and other family members, all of them including the present petitioners, i.e., husband and mother-in-law gave severe beatings to her.
