The State Public Information Commissioner-cum-Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Rohtak, has issued a directive dated 7.3.2012 to the petitioner-Cooperative Society asking it to provide the desired information under the Right to Information Act, 2005 as the petitioner-Cooperative Society is a “public authority' under the Act in view of the decision dated 9.5.2011 rendered by this Court in a bunch of writ petitions. This contempt petition has been filed pointing out that operation of the above-mentioned order of the learned Single Judge has already been stayed by the Division Bench of this Court vide order dated 31.1.2012 in LPA No.1190 of 2011 (The Hindu Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd. Versus The State Information Commission, Punjab and others).
The above-stated LPA is stated to be still pending. If that is so, suffice it to clarify that the petitioner-Society need not to comply with the order/directions dated 7.3.2012 issued by the Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Rohtak.
The contempt petition stands disposed of.
