Sachin Udassi Vs State of Punjab & Ors.

(1). The petitioner who is working as a Science Master in respondent No.5 – School, which receives Grant-inAid from the State Government though has now been paid salary for the period from 27.07.2002 to 30.09.2006 but without any interest.

(2). As admitted in para 3 of the reply filed by the respondent-State also, the petitioner is undoubtedly entitled to be paid interest on the delayed payment of her salary for the afore-stated period.

(3). The writ petition is accordingly disposed of with a direction to the respondents to pay interest @ 7% per annum to the petitioner, the arrears of which shall be paid by the DPI (School) Punjab but with liberty to deduct and adjust the same against the Grant-in-Aid payable to respondent No.5-School. The needful shall be done within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.
