The petitioner, who is a life convict, has filed this petition for grant of parole to him on account of illness of his wife, who is pregnant and the expected date of delivery is January 30, 2010.
Before approaching this Court, the petitioner has not approached the authorities under the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoner (Temporary Release) Act, 1962 (hereinafter referred to as `the Act'), for the aforesaid relief. Therefore, we are not inclined to entertain this petition. Dismissed.
However, it will be open to the petitioner to approach the appropriate authorities under the Act and if the petitioner files an

application for the aforesaid relief, we hope that the same will be considered by the authorities concerned, in accordance with law, expeditiously.
