the petitioner and Mr. Kamlesh Kishore, learned counsel for the State. The Accountant General is represented by Mr. Ram Yash Singh, learned counsel.

The petitioner by filing the present writ petition seeking a direction upon the respondent Provident Fund Directorate, Bihar to ensure payment of provident fund amount along with statutory interest over the delayed payment.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner fairly submits that during the pendency of the present writ petition, the GPF Directorate, Patna has issued authority letter dated 21.09.2023 for making payment of left over amount of GPF to the tune of Rs.10,32,851/- and communicated the same to the Drawing and Disbursing Officer, Health Department, Patna. Consequent thereupon, the amount has already been credited in the account of the petitioner. However, he further submits that till date, the Provident Fund amount for the period 1986-87 and 1987-88 has not been accorded to the petitioner.

At this juncture, learned counsel for the State submits that despite best efforts made by the District Provident Fund Officer, Patna he could not find out the deduction chart/ statement for such period.

Considering the submissions made on behalf of the parties at the bar, this Court deems it appropriate to dispose of the writ petition with a liberty to the petitioner to file a proper application before the District Provident Fund Officer, Patna raising his claim for provident fund amount for the aforenoted period.

In case, such representation is filed by the petitioner preferably within a period of four weeks from today,

the District Provident Fund Officer, Patna shall take sincere efforts to find out the particulars of the deduction for such period and in case it is found that any amount of the petitioner has been deducted against the Provident Fund, the same shall be paid to him in accordance with law preferably within a further period of eight weeks thereafter.

This disposes the writ petition.
