This application, for grant of anticipatory bail, arises out of Complaint Case No. 603 ( C ) of 2021, disclosing offences under Sections 498(A), 494 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

A complaint was filed bearing Complaint No. 603 ( C ) of 2021 by O.P. No. 2/complainant against the petitioners and others alleging therein that the marriage of the complainant was solemnized with co-accused Ganesh Thakur about three years ago and after the marrige, the accused persons demanded

dowry of Rs. 2 lacs. Due to non-fulfillment of the demand, the complainant was tortured physically and mentally by the petitioners and other accused persons.

Learned Counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioner No. 1 is the father-in-law and petitioner No. 2 is the mother-in-law of the complainant. They have been made accused along with other family members on the basis of general and omnibus allegation. There is no likelihood that the petitioners will abscond or tamper with the evidence and they are age old parents of the co-accused Ganesh Thakur.

Having regard to the submissions made on behalf of the parties and taking into consideration the fact that both the petitioners are father-in-law and mother-in-law of the complainant and the allegation against them is general and omnibus in nature, I am inclined to grant the petitioner privilege of anticipatory bail.

This application is, accordingly, allowed.

Let the petitioner, Pramod Thakur, Khattari Devi @ Khatari Devi, in the event of his arrest or surrender before the Court below within four weeks, be released on bail on furnishing bail bond of Rs. 10,000/- (ten thousand) with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of learned
