The petitioner seeks regular bail in connection with NCB/PZU/V/09/17 registered for offences punishable under Sections 8 and 18 of N.D.P.S. Act.

Allegation against the petitioner is about recovery of 01.100 kg. opium from the possession of the petitioner.

Submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner is that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in this case and now he is in custody for seven months. He has nothing to do with the seized articles.

N.C.B. They have opposed the prayer for bail.

Having heard both sides and in view of the facts and circumstances, as stated above, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner, however, since the petitioner is in custody for about 6 ½ months, the learned Trial Court is directed to expedite the trial and try to conclude it as soon as possible preferably within a period of nine months. At the same time, Director/ Local Superior Officer of N.C.B. is directed to ensure presence of the witnesses in the court on the date fixed so that the trial may be concluded within such period.
