“I submit that I am a social worker residing in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh. The Guniya River, which is the lifeline of Guna city, used to flow in its original natural form many years ago. Its flow area extended over more than 20 kilometers, and its riverbanks were more than 600 feet wide. However, over the past 50 years, due to illegal encroachments and unauthorized plotting by colonizers, the original form of this river has been completely destroyed. The river's ecological system has been totally devastated.
On both banks of the river, people have illegally occupied land and established brick kilns, small industrial units, and residential houses. As a result, garbage and industrial waste are being dumped into the river, and it has become extremely difficult to prevent further illegal encroachments. The government and administration have completely failed in this matter.
Due to the continuous dumping of waste into the river, the lives of people living nearby are also at serious risk. Chemical-contaminated water is coming through their hand pumps and jet pumps, and they are facing severe health problems such as malaria and dengue. Therefore, I humbly request that a concrete and effective framework be prepared to restore the natural form of this river, and that directions be issued to the Government of Madhya Pradesh, instructing the District Collector of Guna to take necessary and immediate action.”
